If writing is baking, then book covers are the cream cheese frosting on top of my sexy cinnamon roll. I love getting my covers back from the visionary Dar Albert at Wicked Smart Designs. What makes Dar so great is she gets my idea for the cover without having to write a 5,000-word essay!

So, here is the long-awaited cover for Book Seven in the Wicked Affairs series - titled WICKED SCOUNDREL. And don't worry, there are more books planned.

Rose Elliston, the Duchess of Sandhurst, kept her arm firmly wound with Anne VanLandingham’s, Pelham's eccentric duchess, though the two weren’t fast friends. “I received a letter from the abbess this morning. She wants me to visit again,” Rose said in a low voice.

“That was rather timely,” Anne replied. “Perhaps there are more nobles in debt than I had imagined.”

Rose took a deep breath. There were no right decisions, only expedient ones.

“You are not having second thoughts are you, dear?” Anne asked.

“Do I really want to tie myself to a man who is incapable of managing his own finances?” Rose asked. Oh, if that were really her only problem!

“The pool of suitors is limited. You haven’t told me the particulars of your urgent situation, though I’ve always prided myself on my intuition. In this case, time is more important than money, hence my suggestion for a man indebted. Reverse the tables for once. When your marriage contract is prepared, demand that you provide him a quarterly allowance and let it be known that you will not cover any of his new gaming debts. Then avoid him for the duration of your marriage, except for the childbearing.”

Rose laughed. She had to - the situation was so ridiculous and desperate.

“I will attend her as soon as possible. I only wanted to tell you that your idea had born fruit. Hopefully there is more than one to choose from,” Rose said.

“What? One bad and one worse?” the duchess said and laughed. “Oh, that was rude of me, but then I’m not known for precise etiquette.” If Rose remembered rightly, Anne was a coalminer's daughter from Wales, who happened to be extraordinarily beautiful. They stopped beneath a large oak. “Do you want me to escort you back to Madame DuPuis’? I would be happy to do so."

“Thank you, but this is about my future. You didn’t need to offer advice, you know. I would have figured out a solution eventually.”

“When one of my peers’ cries at one of my splendid balls, it is my highest duty to help resolve the situation. We duchesses must stand firm together, you know. But do come to Grosvenor Square afterward and we can gossip about the lords in debt to the abbess.” Anne patted Rose’s hand. “And you are not to worry. After you choose your new spouse, Rand and I will host you at our home and set you firmly on the path to social acceptance, duchess or not. When I am done with the two of you, it will be as if everyone fully expected the two of you to marry all along!”

It's always good to have a bestseller! And my Kobo readers have been especially good to me this week. Two of my historical erotica romance have popped up on the Number 1 list!

Have you read these books yet? The Darkness in the Marquess of Dane actually hit #1 twice in like 4 days, so that was cool. Two different series represented here: Birds of Paradise and Mad Duchesses.

Mad Duchesses series is complete with four books about widowed duchesses trying to find love. The Birds of Paradise series has one more book, with one chapter complete. This series has been fun, because the primary protags all have varied relationships. Check out the series pages on this blog for more info! Also please not that The Darkness in the Marquess of Dane is one of my most highly rated books, but be prepared, the heat level is pretty high! Ah, who am I kidding, so is One Last Night!!!

The holidays are upon us.

Merry Christmas!

Only ten days until Christmas! How does this happen? Every year, I ask the same question. Do you?

I wish a very happy Christmas and prosperous 2018 for all of my readers and friends. For those of you who have purchased my books and left reviews - THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Those reviews are the thing that keep my books selling, which keeps me writing.

Downside this year... I didn't get Book Seven in the Wicked Affairs finished. I am well into the story but my day job has kept me very busy. Only so many words come out while sitting in airport waiting areas and uncomfortable hotel rooms. But there will be a release date during 2018!

Upside... LOTS of stories in the works. It's happened this way many times. I'll be working on five stories, one captures all my attention, then all of the sudden the others are at 60,000 word count and only take a couple of weeks to finish up. I'm hoping 2018 will be like that. SEVERAL RELEASES.

Stories that are nearing publication are listed on my COMING SOON page. Which of them sounds most interesting to you? Anything you are particularly looking forward too or wish I would get finished, like YESTERDAY? :)

I'm most excited about a new Paranormal series I've started. The words are flowing and the primary protagonist is bigger than life. My heroine? She knows her responsibility even if it means losing her family - all because of a man she doesn't really know and who doesn't want her to interfere in his life. He may not accept it, but she is all he has.

New Releases

Hi everybody! Once again I have been slacking on blog posts, but I do have good news for you. I've been very busy on the writing front. 2016 was a downer year what with all the goings on at my last publisher. I've got all my books back and republished, except for my Romantic Suspense series at Amazon.

So what's going on:

A Sleight of Hand is out and available at all retailers. This is Book 3.2 of The Body of Knowledge series. It is a novella and the second part of Eadan MacMurrough's love story. In the novella, The Trouble With Scots, we learned that Eadan's visions of Gellie Cabot have propelled him into a dream world where he lives in a place between death and life.

For all anyone knows, Gellie doesn't really exist.

Except Gellie Cabot was there that night. She was at the inn where Eadan was first stricken.

In A Sleight of Hand, Gellie is summoned to Dunbar Castle to use her gift to heal the dying earl. She's afraid of her gift because she cannot control it and she knows she might kill him.

Next will be A Mistress To Remember, Book Three in the Birds of Paradise series. I love this one, not only because of the beautiful Russian heroine, trying to establish herself and her sons within the ton, but also because she is a curious and warm lover to the Earl of Compton, a newly widowed man searching for comfort. The wicked Marquess of Dane is back for a couple of scenes. He is married to the earl's sister, Christina. I think you are going to like this one.

This cover is another one by Dar Albert. I absolutely love it. She just catches my vision when I describe the cover I want. And then does it ten times better.

It is currently in edits, so it should be a month or so until release day.


And I'm wrapping up A Wife Is Forever. I'm not sure this is the title I'm going with. This is Book Three in the Infamous Forresters. This plot is interesting. No spoilers yet.

Another Lover new cover/Birds of Paradise

I may not be getting new work published but I am catching up on getting all of my "rights reversion" books re-published.

So, Another Lover. One of my favorite books. This is one of the only books where I knew the ending lines before I ever started writing the novella. But even though I'm a punster, I don't let my characters meander.

The series, Birds of Paradise, is all about women in unique circumstances in which they take lovers. The stories are also tied, in a way.

Another Lover is about Isabelle St. Hillaire, the Westminster Whore, and the final book will be about her brother, Christian St. Hillaire, captain of a sea-going vessel owned by Isabelle's new husband. This final book is started but not yet titled.

Book two, one of my bestselling books, is The Darkness in the Marquess of Dane. Dane was the dark character in book one who wanted to purchase Isabelle's favors. In DMD, we find out why he is such a troubled, dark soul. His lover, Christine Turnbow, needs money and she sells herself to Dane to save her family. Only she saves Dane's soul instead.

Christine's brother, the earl of Compton, Mark Turnbow, is featured in book three, currently titled a Mistress to Remember. He takes a lover after his wife dies with no thought to marriage. I'm on the last chapter of this book and will have a blurb out on this shortly.

Two families, four love stories. All of the books are very sexual, so I've warned you.

About the Another Lover covers: The lovely Dar Albert did both of these. I loved the first one, but man, oh man, did Dar outdo herself on the second one. Tell me which one you like better.

More Wicked Affairs

Merry Christmas, readers.

And here is a little present to finish the year. It is Book Seven in the Wicked Affairs series, which will be released sometime next year - around May or June, at this time. I'm actually planning to release two stories in this series: Wicked Scandal, which is the excerpt below. And Wicked Shades (Clarissa and Juliana's sister Audrina's story - you know, the one with the hot French husband.)

So here, we are at the Duchess of Pelham's grand ball at Grosvenor Square. You'll recognize some of the previous Wicked Affairs nobles who "hang" with the Wicked Affairs crowd.

"They say bad things happened in threes and London was rife with talk of the newest bad things to have happened.

The most tragic, of course, had been the shocking death of Louis Ederline, the old and perverted marquess, who owned more primitive erotic art than ought to have ever been made in the first place. He left behind an innocent young wife some speculated had never been deflowered by her ancient husband or at least deflowered in the traditional sense.

The second bad thing had befallen the favorite horse, Maid of Cadiz, in a race at Newmarket. Not only had the thoroughbred lost, she had lost spectacularly. And to an upstart at that. The winning horse was owned by the Earl of Archer, Charles Standifer, running a horse he had owned less than six months and with eighteen to one odds. His wife, Alizabet, had thrown herself into her husband’s arms after, to the shock of all.

The third bad thing was bound to happen sooner or later. Lady Lindley bore her bad luck stoically. Her long-time lover, Trenton James, the current Earl of Dahlingford, had ended their one-year arrangement amid rampant speculation and accusations. For over a week, the Tattler had been full of on dits regarding lying, cheating and certain other insinuations one could hardly countenance.
Unless one lived in London during the Season. Then anything was possible.

Rather than believe her grand fete would be ruined by death, debt and debaucheries, the Duchess of Pelham thought it might be a rather spectacular evening.

She saw her husband Randall VanLandingham across the room and shot him
her best smile. As he always did, he smiled back, one brow cocked and one hand braced against his hip. Other things happened in threes also."

KOBO Queen For A Day!

One of the best things about writing is making a "list." Granted there are a lot of lists, but this one below is a little bit extra-special for me. It's over at KOBO. Since last night, All A Mistress Wants is at number 1 in the Historical Erotica category. This morning, The Darkness in the Marquess of Dane joined it at number 2!

Think of it, #1 and #2 in the same category.

Release Day: The Frenchman's Widow

It's the new year and I forgot to make a list of resolutions. So let me make one now: I resolve to continue writing novels.

And... Here is the next one.

The Frenchman's Widow is book three in the Imogene Farrell series. I love this girl. She's a true changeling, masquerading as a boy and trying to stay alive in Victorian London. When her brothers are on the run from the law, she hides with Mary Fitzpatrick, an old friend of her deceased mother.

There, Imogene learns some of the ways of lady and what she doesn't know, she can mimic. Her old foes are still looking for her and when she is at her most desperate, Jack Davenport, sweeps into her life to rescue her. In exchange, she agrees to be his mistress.

It is no hardship for Imogene. She has loved him for the first moment they met.

But when Jack marries, he and Imogene separate. Imogene can't be the other woman in Jack's life and she can't trust the man Jack calls his friend - Geoffrey Shiffington. Without her brothers, Imogene isn't safe in London so escapes to Paris where fortune is more kind.

The Frenchman's Widow picks up five years later, when Imogene returns to London to attend her brother Charlie's graduation from King's College seminary. Unbeknown to her, Jack has helped Charlie with his education and his acceptance at King's. Jack also provided a suitable job for Danny at one his farms in Deal.

Jack really has been a god-send to the Farrells. Only Jack is still married. Time hasn't dulled Imogene's feelings for him. Accepting that Jack will never be hers, she sets about building a life for herself, her family and the tide of children who find their way to Imogene's door.

I should mention Dar Albert - she designed these series covers for me. And I JUST LOVE THIS ONE. It is so Imogene - showing her determination.

She sat up in the bed and peered over her shoulder. “I think that you have nothing better to do than intimidate anyone who dares show you a kindness.”

He swung his feet off the bed. “Dress yourself, Miss Turnbow. I’ll send for the carriage.”

So he wasn’t going to accept the price for which they had bargained. She couldn’t read anything into his decision. Should she be insulted that he did not want her? Or should she be thankful his reasons for entering into their Faustian bargain were to remain unclear and unfulfilled?

If he was inviting her to leave, she wouldn’t hesitate. She ignored the torn undergarments but buttoned her short jacket. Her cape would cover a multitude of outward sins. Her conscience would have to deal with everything else.

Dane stood at the table, his robe still disarranged and too revealing. He had collected a metal box that now sat before him with the lid thrown back. “Your money,” he said, glancing at her as she approached.

He threw the money on the table one bill at a time, giving her time to count. When he stopped at two thousand five hundred, she said, “But you’ve already given me five hundred.”

“Humor me.”

She reached for the money, feeling a moment of uncertainty now that Dane’s sexual excesses officially tainted her. Tarnished, that was what she was.

He started a second stack that grew to five thousand pounds, the pile of money in a small mound on the table.

“Another week, Miss Turnbow. What do you say?”

Mark stood at the library door, drink in hand, when Christina came in the front door of their townhouse.

Looking at her brother was more difficult than she imagined it might be—after the events of last night.

“You look like you could use a drink,” he said.

She did not bother to remove her cape, instead brushing past him and walking to the sideboard. She had never been interested in hard alcohol, preferring sweet drinks like ratafia or lemonade. Drunkenness to the point of forgetfulness seemed a good idea for the first time in her life. It would dull her memory temporarily, but she thought she’d earned a few hours to disconnect from her new reality, that of a fallen woman.

She poured the brandy into her glass and lifted it with shaking fingers. Mark reached around her and took the glass.

“Christina.”

She turned into his chest and his arms went around her.

There were no racking sobs, but the trickle of tears came. The pent up pressure crumbled beneath her brother’s support.

“I got the money,” she said. Before she left, Dane had stood at his table, counting out the bills as if they were ha’pennies. And then, when he’d counted out another five thousand, she’d almost gotten sick. His offer was untenable and no one would ever have to know about the new offer or the twenty-four hours she had agreed to spend with him.

“Am I the worst brother in Christendom, allowing you to do this wretched thing?”

“I had to help, Mark.”

“I know.”

“And you will be happy to know I am still a virgin.”

Mark took her by the shoulders at held her at arm’s length. “Dane? He didn’t touch you?”

She sucked in a breath and she felt the crush of anxiety at the realization of what she had done. “I didn’t say that. He is…very different.”

She reached for the brandy. Mark didn’t stop her this time. Once she swallowed, the golden elixir trailed down her throat, leaving behind a scorching reminder that she was not a practiced drinker.

She coughed and set the glass aside.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“I don’t even know where to begin.”

“I will make this up to you some day. I don’t know how, but I promise I will.”

“Just help John make this right. Use this money wisely so that when I do have to give up my virginity, it is to a man who will appreciate my worth.”

Releases Galore

I would admit to being a slacker if that were the case. Yes, I know I haven't posted in awhile but I have been super busy with the EDJ. But I'm home now and have a lot to report.


The first in a new series is ready for release. It's being formatted as I type! I had this idea ages ago, probably when I first started writing. The series? The Curse of the Weatherby Ball. As you can guess from the title, bad things be happening! 

Each story will be about an event that happens at this ball at the unintended, outrageous consequences.

In An Occasion To Sin, a very good woman does a very bad thing. Victoria Sloane makes a bad decision at the Weatherby Ball and must endure the fallout for months to come.

Release Day: The Day After

My favorite day as a writer is always release day. This one coming up is extra special since it will be the release of the final novella in the Mad Duchesses' series.

The Day After is all about unrequited love, that of our hero Dashiel Hamilton.
